A charming mountain village and community. Red Feather Lakes is built around a series of
scenic mountain lakes, and surrounded by the towering mountains of the Roosevelt National Forest. Located about 40 miles NW of Fort Collins, Colorado in Northern Larimer County.
Modern settlers made their first marks on the Red Feather Lakes area in 1871, when John
Hardin built his cabin on South Lone Pine Creek and began ranching and logging operations.
Originally constructed and improved for irrigation purposes by the Conservation Corp., the lakes of the area quickly became recreational amenities. The early 1920's brought summer cabins, fishing and all the trappings of a summer resort, including a golf course. The golf course later closed and a 9-hole, sand green golf course was developed in the 1960's and is still being maintained by volunteers and enjoyed by
property owners and the public today.
The village and surrounding areas offer residents and visitors services such as several
gen eral stores with gas stations, gift shops,
restaurants, library, post office and fire department.
